Dental Emergency Services..Whenever you need it

When you or a loved one is caught in a dental emergency, the last thing you’d want to hear from a dental clinic is an answering machine that says “we are closed…”

When you are experiencing dental pain, it usually means immediate attention is required. Moments like these are when you’ll need an experienced and trained Dental Emergency team to attend to your situation in a calm yet empathetic manner.

At Molonglo Dental Surgery, our Canberra Dentist and team is not only fully equipped to meet your dental emergency needs, but we also make extra provisions for dental emergencies.

Not all dental clinics offer dental emergency services. What makes Molonglo Dental Surgery different from a typical family clinic is that we set aside time for Emergency Appointments every day. That means that we are able to see patients on short notice. No advance bookings required.

Our Canberra Dental Emergency Team understands that some dental problems need to be treated as soon as possible. The more time you waste instead of fixing the problem, the more severe the problems become. Dental problems that are allowed to fester may turn into serious cases that involve more involved procedures or even dental surgery at a later stage.

That said, it is also important to identify…

What is considered a Dental Emergency?

A dental emergency is a medical emergency that involves teeth and gums. One popular misconception is that dental emergencies only involve your teeth when actually they cover parts of the mouth as well.

For example, injury or trauma to the oral cavity and teeth also qualifies as dental emergencies. They include injury from sports or accidents that result in knocked out, cracked or fractured teeth as well as soft tissue lacerations on the gums and inner walls of your mouth.

When these conditions are ignored, dangerous and serious complications may occur. For example, the tissue or nerve damage may become unrepairable if not swiftly dealt with by a dentist, who is trained to prevent further damage to the oral cavity, nerves, and bones.

This is a list of some of the more common dental emergencies that need to be seen by a dentist as soon as possible:

  • Loosened, misaligned or knocked-out teeth following an impact
  • Severe toothaches
  • Gum disease
  • Unexplained tooth loss
  • Fractured teeth
  • Bulges, swelling, or knots on the gum tissue
  • Lodged foreign bodies in teeth
  • Severe gum injuries
  • Trauma to the mouth
  • Cracked or fractured teeth
  • Swelling in the mouth or face

When you are caught in any of the above situations, you need to make that urgent call.

If you decide to call on us at Molonglo Dental Surgery, rest assured that an experienced Canberra dentist and the dental emergency team will be ready to attend to you.
